Shell Ridge is a hidden gem of Walnut Creek. Dog (and family) friendly. Several different access points to its multitude of trails; this one is tucked away in a nice residential neighborhood.

I live couple minutes away from this trail head. You can approach to a lot of other trails in Mt. Diablo area. The scenery is really nice, you can see the city of Walnut Creek from the hill.
