Confirmed from Rocky Point Trail's own listing, the park or land manager's website, and runner reviews. Blank cells mean we could not verify that fact — we would rather say "not reported" than invent one. There is no Easy / Moderate / Hard rating on this page on purpose: a one-word difficulty score tells you nothing about whether a trail suits your run. Surface, distance, shade and hours do.
Scenic hiking trail with a secluded feel that loops around Grapevine Lake.
What runners say about Rocky Point Trail
“Very remote and beautiful trail hidden in the hills above grapevine lake.”
Nice park but hard to find. Small parking lot and trail sign is far right behind a tree. First 1/8 mile is downhill and gets narrower until is about 12 feet wide. Then it opens up. Some steep( for an old man) and muddy. Multiple creek crossings.
The trail isn't as obvious in a few areas as i would have liked, but it was really pretty! I saw 2 people on the trail the whole 2 hours I was here.
Very remote and beautiful trail hidden in the hills above grapevine lake. Enjoyed the paths that loop around giving the return trip a new view!! Entrance to trail is easy to miss just look across from the intersection of High and Sunnyview
I really enjoy this hike. What a beautiful place. It feels secluded, yet it's surprisingly in people's backyard.

“Took me 20 mins to locate the entrance, which is just at the right hand side of the parking lot.”
“Beautiful views of the lake, a winding creek along the way, sandy trails part of the way, other parts more rocky, like the real hiking you crave from hill country.”

The practical stuff
- AccessOpen 24 hours — no gate to beat, so a 5am or a 10pm run both work
- SurfaceNatural surface — easiest on the joints and the most fun, but expect roots, rocks and mud after rain
- DistanceNot reported. Trail systems often quote total path mileage rather than a single loop, so measure the route you actually want before you drive out.
- ShadeNot reported. Assume some of it is exposed and carry water in summer.
- At the trailheadparking — reported by runners
