Confirmed from Cross Timbers Trail Head's own listing, the park or land manager's website, and runner reviews. Blank cells mean we could not verify that fact — we would rather say "not reported" than invent one. There is no Easy / Moderate / Hard rating on this page on purpose: a one-word difficulty score tells you nothing about whether a trail suits your run. Surface, distance, shade and hours do.
Park featuring hiking, mountain biking, and a lake.
What runners say about Cross Timbers Trail Head
“Thankfully saw neither and enjoyed a great hike with beautiful flowers and great shade when the sun came out!”
“Fairly easy trail, took the dogs got a few ticks.”
East bound was in full Spring bloom and very aromatic. A short loop before the bridge was a pleasant surprise and offerd nice topography and views. The initial trail is a bit technical and gets the heart rate up well into the aerobic range and keeps it there.
Beautiful primitive hiking trail. Some parts of re shared with bikes, but all the times we've been there we've only seen 1 bike. It has some "hills" and "valleys" which the kids found very fun! I would not recommend it for brand new hiker or little kids who can't walk well.
Enjoyed a morning hike, we got there when it was Dark and per reviews of about boars and snakes we walked the dirt road until it was light enough to see the trails, and help avoid snakes and/or boar encounters. Thankfully saw neither and enjoyed a great hike with beautiful flowers and great shade when the sun came out!
This park on the tip of Lake Grapevine is an outstanding location for a mostly unimproved natural experience. Not much in the way of amenities but enough trails to get in a good stroll through trees and open fields. Being on the lake, after rains you may see flooding and closure.

The practical stuff
