Confirmed from Roper Lake State Park's own listing, the park or land manager's website, and runner reviews. Blank cells mean we could not verify that fact — we would rather say "not reported" than invent one. There is no Easy / Moderate / Hard rating on this page on purpose: a one-word difficulty score tells you nothing about whether a trail suits your run. Surface, distance, shade and hours do.
A destination popular for camping with RV hookups & cabins plus a lake with a beach & hiking trails.
What runners say about Roper Lake State Park
“The $50/night fee is not inexpensive but the new/well maintained facilities it is worth it.”
“Beautiful park and campground.”
Arizona has wonderful state parks & campgrounds. We loved Roper Lake State Park. Not as busy as others and had spacious sites with lake views. Loved hearing the red-winged blackbirds and coots call. We had decent wi-fi here. We had 50 amp power and water, but no sewer hook-up. Sani-dump was available. We had site 17.
Neat state park. You get pretty views of Mt Graham, and the lake itself if medium sized. There's not a trail around it, but there's a few areas you can park around it, and even ramps that take you down to the lake. They also have a boat ramp too and a small swimming beach. There's a few picnic areas.
Beautiful park and campground. Lots to do here...hike, swim, kayak, fish, bike ride, picnic, camp. The campground loops are very nice. Two have hookups and one loop without. The non electric "group camp” is usually open for day of camping. The shower and toilets are sparkling. Minutes to the town of Safford AZ.
Beautiful park! So we'll maintained! Loved our campsite! Bathrooms were SO clean. Excellent trails. There is a fishing dock as well. We will be back!
Trail conditions & character
“GREAT cabin, well maintained restrooms, showers and entire campground area.”
“You get pretty views of Mt Graham, and the lake itself if medium sized.”
“The only downside was the lake level was down about 6 feet from last year.”
