Confirmed from Sally Brown Nature Preserve's own listing, the park or land manager's website, and runner reviews. Blank cells mean we could not verify that fact — we would rather say "not reported" than invent one. There is no Easy / Moderate / Hard rating on this page on purpose: a one-word difficulty score tells you nothing about whether a trail suits your run. Surface, distance, shade and hours do.
Nature preserve offering hiking trails and opportunities for bird watching and photography.
What runners say about Sally Brown Nature Preserve
“Always well maintained and easy to follow.”
“Great place, went on a 3 mile run and absolutely beautiful.”
“Always well maintained and easy to follow.”
“It’s beautiful, quiet, mostly untouched.”
I really love this place. The trails are easily navigable and I almost always run into some kind of wildlife. My favorite time to visit is in spring when lots of flowers are blooming. The only reason I can’t give it 5 stars isn’t the fault of the preserve, but for the fact it neighbors a shooting range.
Very fun time, allot of nature and shade for long hikes. Pet and kid friendly
Happily shocked to find these trails so close to my family's place! Two great loops (each about 2.5 - 3 miles). Additionally they posted about a new 1 mile trail.
Several trails, make sure to download maps so you don't get lost. One trail leads to the Kentucky River and another to a nice overlook with a swing. A portable potty was in the parking lot. Trails were marked well.
Trail conditions & character
“The one trail needs some trees cleared so you can have an overlook of the river, but otherwise it was great.”
“Take a picture of the map before you leave the parking area.”
“Wear boots as it can be quite muddy and wet in areas.”
