Confirmed from Sams House at Pine Island's own listing, the park or land manager's website, and runner reviews. Blank cells mean we could not verify that fact — we would rather say "not reported" than invent one. There is no Easy / Moderate / Hard rating on this page on purpose: a one-word difficulty score tells you nothing about whether a trail suits your run. Surface, distance, shade and hours do.
What runners say about Sams House at Pine Island
“This was a beautiful place to to take a walk and experience a little bit of the history of the area.”
A free hidden and amazing gem. It has Walking trails, Brevard's oldest house and an Indian Burial ground. It also has a good educational walking tour.
Been living in the area for over 20 years and didn't know this place even existed. It is the site of the oldest building on Merritt Island and includes quite a lot of trails. The site was also occupied by Native Americans from about 5,000 BC until 1,200 AD.
Very neat little historic place to visit. There are lots of hiking trails around the property. BRING BUG SPRAY! The mosquitos are plump and numerous. They do provide bug spray just in case you forget yours.
I've lived in Florida my whole life and never get tired of learning about its history. Some of the trails were mucky, so I didn't get to do them all. Still a great experience!
Trail conditions & character
“The Discovery Loop has interesting displays set up along it, while the White Loop and the Blue Trail wander off into the brush.”
“Stepping over tree roots frequently on the un-planked portions.”

- SurfaceNatural surface — easiest on the joints and the most fun, but expect roots, rocks and mud after rain

- ShadeNot reported. Assume some of it is exposed and carry water in summer.
