Confirmed from Santa rosa creek trail's own listing, the park or land manager's website, and runner reviews. Blank cells mean we could not verify that fact — we would rather say "not reported" than invent one. There is no Easy / Moderate / Hard rating on this page on purpose: a one-word difficulty score tells you nothing about whether a trail suits your run. Surface, distance, shade and hours do.

What runners say about Santa rosa creek trail

Pulled from public reviews of this trail (43 of them) — the things people bring up again and again, in their own words. Nothing here is written by us.

🏞️ beautiful scenery 3 mentions

“Beautiful views of the creek and vineyards.”

🌳 shaded & cool 3 mentions

“Shaded, paved roads on the south side and sunny off-roading on the north side.”

🌾 quiet & peaceful 3 mentions

“The walk with my friend was peaceful and the trail is dog-friendly.”

I can't say I walked the whole trail. I was mainly focusing on the west of Willow Road section for birding. There were a ton of different bird species but difficult to get photos of them. The trees are pretty thick back there. I saw in the map that there's a pond if you go in far enough.

It is an overall okay trail that leads from Santa Rosa to Sebastopol. The walk with my friend was peaceful and the trail is dog-friendly. Great to walk, jog, and bike with friends. Other than the glass, some clothing on the floor, and some graffiti.

★★★★☆ — Irene , Jun 2024

Nice flat and shaded creek paths, one side paved, one side trail. Views of wineries and the creek. Not too many wildlife--the occasional snake or turtle.

★★★★★ — William , Jun 2022

Pretty amazing for bird watching this time of year! Great trail and too many birds to list 😀

Trail conditions & character

What this trail is actually like underfoot and overhead, taken from its own listing and from reviews. Each one links to every other trail with the same character. Busy or quiet is reported as a plain fact, not a plus or a minus — a runner heading out alone at dawn often wants company on the path, and someone running intervals wants an empty one.

  • AccessPosted hours — posted hours below; park gates sometimes close earlier than the listing says
  • SurfaceMixed — more than one surface along the route, so check the segment you plan to run

  • ShadeRunners describe real tree cover here — it makes a summer afternoon workable
  • At the trailheadparking, restrooms — reported by runners
  • DogsWelcome, per reviewers. Leash rules vary by park — the trailhead sign is the authority.
