Confirmed from Saucon Rail Trail's own listing, the park or land manager's website, and runner reviews. Blank cells mean we could not verify that fact — we would rather say "not reported" than invent one. There is no Easy / Moderate / Hard rating on this page on purpose: a one-word difficulty score tells you nothing about whether a trail suits your run. Surface, distance, shade and hours do.
Park with crushed-stone trails for walking, running, and biking.
What runners say about Saucon Rail Trail
“This trail is well maintained and great for running and biking.”
“This trail is well maintained and great for running and biking.”
Great trail! The only real hill is headed southward towards Coopersburg, but other than that, it is an easy run/bike ride.
The trails are really nice for running. The houses in the area are really upscale so it gives you something to look at while on the trail. Only downside is that it is up and back instead of a complete circle.
Scenic rail to trail. 6 miles one-way. Goes along the river and through Helertown.
Easy, leisurely trail. I ride my mountain bike here when I want to take it easy. Well maintained. Moderately traveled (usually). Regardless of being close to many homes, I tend to spot some wildlife. I've seen deer multiple times, and of course ground hogs, squirrels etc. Hardly a nature trail however.
Trail conditions & character
“Walk as far or as short of a distance as you like, paved, flat trail, wide enough to prevent congestion, lovely scenery and cool temperature because of shade.”
“Very nice gravel trail, slight upgrade from Hellertown to Coopersburg but nice riding to Hellertown.”
“They also have stations with working bathrooms and water fountains”
“Then come back on the trail to head back to the main parking lot in the park.”

The practical stuff
- AccessPosted hours — posted hours below; park gates sometimes close earlier than the listing says
- SurfaceCrushed gravel — the rail-trail classic: softer than asphalt, still smooth enough for tempo work
- DistanceNot reported. Trail systems often quote total path mileage rather than a single loop, so measure the route you actually want before you drive out.
- ShadeNot reported. Assume some of it is exposed and carry water in summer.
- At the trailheadparking, water — reported by runners
