We have not been able to confirm the surface, distance or shape of Schiller Woods yet from its own listing, the park's website or runner reviews — so those cells stay blank rather than guess. What is below comes straight from the listing and from reviewers' own words. There is no Easy / Moderate / Hard rating on this page on purpose: a one-word difficulty score tells you nothing about whether a trail suits your run. Surface, distance, shade and hours do.
Fishing for bass & catfish, plus walking trails, picnic areas & roaming deer in protected woodland.
What runners say about Schiller Woods
“So peaceful and beautiful especially with all the fall colored changes on the leaves of the trees.”
“The dog loves coming here and loves seeing all of the deer roaming around!”
Beautiful escape from reality just steps away from home! Plenty of parking and areas to walk around. The dog loves coming here and loves seeing all of the deer roaming around! Tons of little hidden corners to hang out and picnic. Watch out for the deer poop!
Been taking my dogs here for walks on the trail and it's never disappointing, always a new nook or crannie to find, lots of deer and other animals, friendly people, you can have a party here, (when you get a permit), has a pond, ducks and geese, wow, no need to plan a hike anywhere else! Come here and enjoy the freedom
Nice accessibility from Irving Park Rd, a few main parking lots. There is a really great designated trail- saw lots of walkers, runners and some pups on leashes. Color change is great during the Fall season. Saw a good amount of friendly Deer, too!
One of the largest forest preserves in the area, that has more than 16 picnic grove areas. Lot of benches and shade areas available, has a pond and some trails for walking. Weekends are usually crowded, but place is large enough to accommodate the crowd.
