Confirmed from Scout Lake Park's own listing, the park or land manager's website, and runner reviews. Blank cells mean we could not verify that fact — we would rather say "not reported" than invent one. There is no Easy / Moderate / Hard rating on this page on purpose: a one-word difficulty score tells you nothing about whether a trail suits your run. Surface, distance, shade and hours do.

Beautiful park and trail, I wonder if most people driving down Loomis even notice it. It’s the perfect spot for a walk at the end of the day — especially before day light savings ends!

★★★★★ — Reema , Nov 2021

Beautiful park and great fishing. The fishing pier is a nice bonus! Nice paths to walk on. You feel like you are in a natural areas oasis and yet it’s only 5 minutes from Southridge Mall.

★★★★★ — Erica , May 2021

Great park to take the kids with bikes and do some nice walking! The playground is to the right (south) from the parking lot. We went left first and did the half mile loop around the lake with our two kids on their bikes. The pavilion was air conditioned and had nice clean bathrooms.

★★★★★ — Heidi , Jun 2025

Nice double playground. Great path around the pond with excellent hiking spots off the main trail. People seemed to enjoy fishing there. Would be good for a jog, hike,or bike ride.

Trail conditions & character

What this trail is actually like underfoot and overhead, taken from its own listing and from reviews. Each one links to every other trail with the same character. Busy or quiet is reported as a plain fact, not a plus or a minus — a runner heading out alone at dawn often wants company on the path, and someone running intervals wants an empty one.

“Provides a walking loop, and a spot large dock for fishing with a couple benches to relax and take in the view.”

The practical stuff

  • AccessPosted hours — posted hours below; park gates sometimes close earlier than the listing says
  • SurfacePaved — asphalt or concrete. Fast and predictable, runnable year-round, and fine with a stroller
  • DistanceNot reported. Trail systems often quote total path mileage rather than a single loop, so measure the route you actually want before you drive out.
  • ShadeRunners describe real tree cover here — it makes a summer afternoon workable
  • At the trailheadparking — reported by runners
  • DogsWelcome, per reviewers. Leash rules vary by park — the trailhead sign is the authority.
