Confirmed from Scout Lake Park's own listing, the park or land manager's website, and runner reviews. Blank cells mean we could not verify that fact — we would rather say "not reported" than invent one. There is no Easy / Moderate / Hard rating on this page on purpose: a one-word difficulty score tells you nothing about whether a trail suits your run. Surface, distance, shade and hours do.
This natural wooded area features a lake for fishing, a paved lakeside path & a kids' play area.
What runners say about Scout Lake Park
“Beautiful park and trail, I wonder if most people driving down Loomis even notice it.”
“We really enjoyed walking around the lake and taking in the quiet setting.”
Beautiful park and trail, I wonder if most people driving down Loomis even notice it. It’s the perfect spot for a walk at the end of the day — especially before day light savings ends!
Beautiful park and great fishing. The fishing pier is a nice bonus! Nice paths to walk on. You feel like you are in a natural areas oasis and yet it’s only 5 minutes from Southridge Mall.
Great park to take the kids with bikes and do some nice walking! The playground is to the right (south) from the parking lot. We went left first and did the half mile loop around the lake with our two kids on their bikes. The pavilion was air conditioned and had nice clean bathrooms.
Nice double playground. Great path around the pond with excellent hiking spots off the main trail. People seemed to enjoy fishing there. Would be good for a jog, hike,or bike ride.
Trail conditions & character
“Provides a walking loop, and a spot large dock for fishing with a couple benches to relax and take in the view.”

“However, there are other paths that travel through heavily wooded areas with a bit of a challenge - small hills to climb.”

“5 stars for us walking our dogs, but it's a bit short on playgrounds & other kids' amenities”
“The path around the pond is relatively flat and, for those that do Mall Walking, it is a bit shorter than one trip around Brookfield Square and the branching arms.”

The practical stuff
- AccessPosted hours — posted hours below; park gates sometimes close earlier than the listing says

- ShadeRunners describe real tree cover here — it makes a summer afternoon workable
- At the trailheadparking — reported by runners
- DogsWelcome, per reviewers. Leash rules vary by park — the trailhead sign is the authority.
