Confirmed from Shaler Park's own listing, the park or land manager's website, and runner reviews. Blank cells mean we could not verify that fact — we would rather say "not reported" than invent one. There is no Easy / Moderate / Hard rating on this page on purpose: a one-word difficulty score tells you nothing about whether a trail suits your run. Surface, distance, shade and hours do.

This is a great park! Had a nice walk in the morning along the water, and enjoyed hearing the waterfall. Interesting statue and a bit of history too. I'll have to come back in the summer to see the fountain going.

Located beside the cemetery its always wonderful to come to this revered, quiet spot to pay homage to those who came before us and what they went through. Pretty site with the Rock River water backdrop, dam, picnic area across the way and the city Veterans Memorial beside the End of the Trail a little ways away.

★★★★☆ — Misses , Jul 2022

This is a clean park, great place to put in for the Rock River Trail. There is easy parking and restrooms, as well as interesting memorials and art installations. It can be prone to flooding at times.

★★★★★ — M1Nerrva , Jun 2026

You can see some awesome sculptures by iconic James Frazier and Laredo Taft. The original End of the Trail sculpture is awe inspiring.

Trail conditions & character

What this trail is actually like underfoot and overhead, taken from its own listing and from reviews. Each one links to every other trail with the same character. Busy or quiet is reported as a plain fact, not a plus or a minus — a runner heading out alone at dawn often wants company on the path, and someone running intervals wants an empty one.
