Confirmed from Shamokin Springs Nature Preserve's own listing, the park or land manager's website, and runner reviews. Blank cells mean we could not verify that fact — we would rather say "not reported" than invent one. There is no Easy / Moderate / Hard rating on this page on purpose: a one-word difficulty score tells you nothing about whether a trail suits your run. Surface, distance, shade and hours do.
Short loop trail traversing woodland and featuring small streams.
What runners say about Shamokin Springs Nature Preserve
“Relatively easy and fun trail with beautiful water springs and thick forestry.”
Perfect short loop for toddlers. Lots of interest packed into a short walk, with tons of small bridges over creeks. Highly recommend. Edit: there is a small parking area, maybe enough for four cars.
Short walk. Lots of interesting Brooks and trees. We saw a few birds on our walk.
Very nice trail, short but worth it. We got to it from the old Appalachian Trail and there was a nice info box with information on the different numbered points on the trail. The hand out is very informative and some trees even had a label.
Easy short hike, perfect for kids (our 2 and 5 year olds loved it). Rough footing in places (large, sometimes loose, boulder path), and slippery when wet, but almost no elevation change. Many charming (very small) plank bridges with meandering streams throughout.
Trail conditions & character
“If you look close through the woods you can see the other driveway, just follow the (in October) fairly dry stream bed around the bend to finish the loop.”

“This was a pleasant wooded area with a very interesting stream.”
