Confirmed from Shindagin Hollow State Forest's own listing, the park or land manager's website, and runner reviews. Blank cells mean we could not verify that fact — we would rather say "not reported" than invent one. There is no Easy / Moderate / Hard rating on this page on purpose: a one-word difficulty score tells you nothing about whether a trail suits your run. Surface, distance, shade and hours do.

What runners say about Shindagin Hollow State Forest

Pulled from public reviews of this trail (141 of them) — the things people bring up again and again, in their own words. Nothing here is written by us.

🏞️ beautiful scenery 4 mentions

“Big drops ( not for small adventurers ) beautiful and quiet”

Hiked about a 6 mile loop with my Labrador, we had a blast. Trail was challenging at times but nothing too wild. The forest is beautiful. Can't wait to go back and check out the other trails.

★★★★★ — Kait , Sep 2018

Unique old school mountain bike trail network. I drove from Minnesota and rode them after a very wet week. Being old school trails, they're fine to ride after a half day of sunshine.

★★★★☆ — Eric , Sep 2017

i have just been here twice since my recent move to the area...once in the mist and gray before snow and then hiked through today with a wonderful hiking partner... what a beautiful and still and powerful place..

★★★★★ — H , Dec 2013

These woods are truly lovely, dark and deep for mountain biking. The are 2 main trails. The trail was soaked the day I was there, so not much fun. It all appears to be single track and would be fun on a drier day or with a fat tire. I had the trail I was on to myself so I did like that.

Trail conditions & character

What this trail is actually like underfoot and overhead, taken from its own listing and from reviews. Each one links to every other trail with the same character. Busy or quiet is reported as a plain fact, not a plus or a minus — a runner heading out alone at dawn often wants company on the path, and someone running intervals wants an empty one.

🌲 Natural surface / singletrack 8 mentions

“Tons of roots and rocks and tough slogs uphill but a great workout and you’ll b smiling From ear to ear if u like adventure”
