We have not been able to confirm the surface, distance or shape of Ellis Hollow Nature Preserve yet from its own listing, the park's website or runner reviews — so those cells stay blank rather than guess. What is below comes straight from the listing and from reviewers' own words. There is no Easy / Moderate / Hard rating on this page on purpose: a one-word difficulty score tells you nothing about whether a trail suits your run. Surface, distance, shade and hours do.
What runners say about Ellis Hollow Nature Preserve
“Beautiful, peaceful and well marked trails!”
“Beautiful, peaceful and well marked trails!”
“Quaint little entrance and a peaceful stroll through the woods with a creek.”
A nice 20 to 45 minute round trip hike, moderately hilly, through forest and stream. No grand vistas. Some child friendly markers along the way. Duration depends on options you choose along the way.
Nice little area for a hike. The longest of the three trails is just about 1.5 km, and it's very possible to hike all of them in an hour or so. Leashed dogs are welcome; don't forget to clean up!
Lovely, easy/moderate hikes in a quiet, tranquil setting. Enjoyed lots of birdsong and spotting little frogs. Well-marked trails. Easy parking area.
Lovely wooded pocket park in an area blessed with many other spectacular and larger parks. A great short hike with my dog. Just a mile or so east of the Cornell campus.
