Confirmed from Slepicka Homestead Park's own listing, the park or land manager's website, and runner reviews. Blank cells mean we could not verify that fact — we would rather say "not reported" than invent one. There is no Easy / Moderate / Hard rating on this page on purpose: a one-word difficulty score tells you nothing about whether a trail suits your run. Surface, distance, shade and hours do.

What runners say about Slepicka Homestead Park

Pulled from public reviews of this trail (85 of them) — the things people bring up again and again, in their own words. Nothing here is written by us.

Beautiful little park that was a family farm years ago. Nice walking trail, picnic area in a wildflower setting with the original silo and family history signs.

★★★★★ — Debbie , Aug 2021

I'm pet sitting, so I looked up this park as a place to dog walk in the area. This is a nice park, the path is paved, but a couple of spots have started to look bad. The park was clean, and along the walking bath you will see spots set up to "workout". The park was originally the homestead farm of the Slepicka family.

★★★★☆ — Rhonda , Jun 2026

Small little getaway park. This place is quiet and rarely used. Would love to have Carol Stream remove the corn hole game and replace it with a little park for the kids...Bike and walking path as well as a huge gazebo. It is walking distance to another small park...

★★★★★ — Stefano , Sep 2016

A little gem of a park. The short paved trail around it connects to Lies Road and to a playground in the south. The wooded portion looks great in the snow and in summer. The garden plots and silo tower are a great way to bring community together and celebrate the history of the village.

Trail conditions & character

What this trail is actually like underfoot and overhead, taken from its own listing and from reviews. Each one links to every other trail with the same character. Busy or quiet is reported as a plain fact, not a plus or a minus — a runner heading out alone at dawn often wants company on the path, and someone running intervals wants an empty one.

The practical stuff

  • AccessOpen 24 hours — no gate to beat, so a 5am or a 10pm run both work
  • SurfacePaved — asphalt or concrete. Fast and predictable, runnable year-round, and fine with a stroller
  • DistanceNot reported. Trail systems often quote total path mileage rather than a single loop, so measure the route you actually want before you drive out.
  • ShadeNot reported. Assume some of it is exposed and carry water in summer.
