Confirmed from South Mountain County Park Trailhead's own listing, the park or land manager's website, and runner reviews. Blank cells mean we could not verify that fact — we would rather say "not reported" than invent one. There is no Easy / Moderate / Hard rating on this page on purpose: a one-word difficulty score tells you nothing about whether a trail suits your run. Surface, distance, shade and hours do.
Park featuring kid-friendly hiking trails.
What runners say about South Mountain County Park Trailhead
“Beautiful park to go walking during this gorgeous spring season.”
This is a captivating park! I've been here once with my children and we plan to return multiple times again. The trail is straightforward (literally), without lots of intersections to other trails. While it lacks outstanding vista views, it offers ample tree cover and a truly relaxing hiking experience.
Nice intermediate trail. You get your cardio worth for sure. One of my Go Tos.
I enjoy hiking here and getting into nature, The hike is not too challenging. There is a wide path with some stones, not as rocky as the Bear Mountain trails. You can follow either trail head for a nice hour walk in either direction. Views overlook the Towns of Haverstraw and Stony Point.
One of the few trails in Rockland County. Not a lot of parking spaces so be there early. The trail ascends rapidly to offer a view of the county.
