Confirmed from South Mountain - Fairy Trail's own listing, the park or land manager's website, and runner reviews. Blank cells mean we could not verify that fact — we would rather say "not reported" than invent one. There is no Easy / Moderate / Hard rating on this page on purpose: a one-word difficulty score tells you nothing about whether a trail suits your run. Surface, distance, shade and hours do.

“The Fairy Trail at South Mountain Reservation is a charming, family-friendly walk that feels straight out of a storybook.”

An absolutely lovely path through the woods especially if there’s someone you know who loves to hunt for fairies. The path is extremely well maintained and the houses are top notch. Please stay on the trail to avoid damaging the houses and protect yourself from poison ivy. Trail is open sun up to sun down.

Great intro hiking trail for toddlers. We took our two daughters there and they really enjoyed finding all the little fairy houses. Coming in at less than a mile walking round trip, I was able to get in approx 2000 steps. My friend Brian, a 43 year old male, offered to dress up as a fairy and swing from tree to tree.

What a hidden gem! The fairy houses are so magical, and there are so many adorable details on them when you look closer. My daughter loved spotting them along the trail. It’s so beautiful with the surrounding woods and river as well.

This place is adorable. As four grown adults I can tell you we all had a nice time running around and finding the little houses. I've attached tons of pictures. The trail does get really muddy so wear appropriate footwear if it has rained/snowed in last few days.

Trail conditions & character

What this trail is actually like underfoot and overhead, taken from its own listing and from reviews. Each one links to every other trail with the same character. Busy or quiet is reported as a plain fact, not a plus or a minus — a runner heading out alone at dawn often wants company on the path, and someone running intervals wants an empty one.

🅿️ Trailhead parking 16 mentions

“At one point, the trail splits into a short path back to the parking lot and a longer path that connects to other trails.”
