Confirmed from Spring River Park's own listing, the park or land manager's website, and runner reviews. Blank cells mean we could not verify that fact — we would rather say "not reported" than invent one. There is no Easy / Moderate / Hard rating on this page on purpose: a one-word difficulty score tells you nothing about whether a trail suits your run. Surface, distance, shade and hours do.

Peaceful park featuring a carousel, a playground, picnic areas, a small zoo, and a pond.

What runners say about Spring River Park

Pulled from public reviews of this trail (408 of them) — the things people bring up again and again, in their own words. Nothing here is written by us.

Well taken care of. Not many animals but my daughter loves it. The bears are looking quite sad they have a super small space but they are refurbishing it so hopefully it'll be much bigger and not just walking on concrete all day + the birds enclosures could be bigger for them.

Imagine my surprise, (being from Fort Worth, Texas) when I learned it was FREE to visit. Very cool little "zoo". Not much to it, but it is nice to walk around and see the free roaming peacocks. They have a small variety of animals you can see. Bring a loaf of bread, they have a small pond you can feed the ducks at.

★★★★★ — Carolyn , Nov 2017

Roswell is fortunate to have this park. Zoo is small but fun for the kids. Nice to walk it when weather is good. Ducks are fun to watch. Relaxing to sit near pond and watch them. Train and merry-go-round are fun for family and still inexpensive.

★★★★★ — Martha , Jan 2018

When is Christmas time and it's lit up for the Railway this place is awesome. The rest of the year is okay. The park is a great place to hang out. The zoo is not great, the exhibits are outdated and not well kept. But still fun to walk through and see the animals and enjoy shade

Trail conditions & character

What this trail is actually like underfoot and overhead, taken from its own listing and from reviews. Each one links to every other trail with the same character. Busy or quiet is reported as a plain fact, not a plus or a minus — a runner heading out alone at dawn often wants company on the path, and someone running intervals wants an empty one.

The practical stuff

  • AccessPosted hours — posted hours below; park gates sometimes close earlier than the listing says
  • SurfaceNatural surface — easiest on the joints and the most fun, but expect roots, rocks and mud after rain
  • DistanceNot reported. Trail systems often quote total path mileage rather than a single loop, so measure the route you actually want before you drive out.
  • ShadeNot reported. Assume some of it is exposed and carry water in summer.
  • LightingRunners report lights on the path — useful for pre-dawn and after-work miles. Lighting and opening hours are separate things, so check both.
