Confirmed from Spruce Park's own listing, the park or land manager's website, and runner reviews. Blank cells mean we could not verify that fact — we would rather say "not reported" than invent one. There is no Easy / Moderate / Hard rating on this page on purpose: a one-word difficulty score tells you nothing about whether a trail suits your run. Surface, distance, shade and hours do.
Grassy park featuring a pair of playgrounds for little kids and older kids, basketball court, a walking trail and swings.
What runners say about Spruce Park
“Relatively clean park with an open field and a separate play structure geared for toddlers, which I appreciated when my child was younger so she wasn't run over by older kids.”
This is a great park, includes 2 playgrounds, basketball court, walking trails through the woods, and a paved trail around the park and field. Great variety of toy equipment. There are restrooms, with running water. Not enough picnic tables though! I think there is only 1 or 2 very small ones.
I originally gave it 4 stars because the playground seemed small, but we discovered this beautiful forest trail that looks well-kept very close by. It gives a surprisingly secluded environment for walk if you need some solitude, which is interesting because the main roads are not far.
I've been a long time fan of a spruce park. It's one of the most comfortable quaint parks I've been to, it's my fall back on park when I need to remember better times with me and my dogs and of better times in my life. It's seems to always be bright and sunny when I visit.
You can reserve the eating area for a small party. Great spot for kids and bringing pets cuz there was a dog park nearby. The only feedback is that it's pretty close to the road so watch your kids and make sure they don't run out there. The kids playground era is fully fenced in so that is helpful.
Trail conditions & character
“What keeps it from 5 stars for me is the bathrooms are hit and miss, about a third of the time I'd say they are dirty enough I don't want my child to use them.”

“There are limited parking spots but most of the time we were able to park.”

“The lights in the bathrooms don't seem to have any kind of switch though, which was unfortunate when we needed to use them once it had gotten dark.”

The practical stuff
- AccessPosted hours — posted hours below; park gates sometimes close earlier than the listing says
- SurfacePaved — asphalt or concrete. Fast and predictable, runnable year-round, and fine with a stroller
- DistanceNot reported. Trail systems often quote total path mileage rather than a single loop, so measure the route you actually want before you drive out.
- ShadeNot reported. Assume some of it is exposed and carry water in summer.
- LightingRunners report lights on the path — useful for pre-dawn and after-work miles. Lighting and opening hours are separate things, so check both.
- At the trailheadparking, restrooms — reported by runners
- DogsWelcome, per reviewers. Leash rules vary by park — the trailhead sign is the authority.
