Confirmed from Meadowdale Beach Park's own listing, the park or land manager's website, and runner reviews. Blank cells mean we could not verify that fact — we would rather say "not reported" than invent one. There is no Easy / Moderate / Hard rating on this page on purpose: a one-word difficulty score tells you nothing about whether a trail suits your run. Surface, distance, shade and hours do.
Open from early until dusk, this park has forest trails, picnic tables & shelters & beach access.
What runners say about Meadowdale Beach Park
“The path was well maintained and there were bathrooms at the bottom and top of the trail.”
“This is a beautiful trail that goes down to the beach and you get a beautiful view of the Olympic mountains and the surrounding area.”
“A very peaceful soul-feeding nature walk and great for couples and families too.”
Absolute gem of a park and hike. The beach at the bottom is spectacular. You hike all downhill to the beach a little over a mile. It can be steep, with some stairs and muddy in places. But you are walking through 2nd growth forest with a creek running alongside. You might see some birds. The beach is the treasure.
A lovely 2 km (4km total to get back) walk down to the beach and a small workout, going back uphill to the parking area. Many old Growth Trees to admire and a wide expanse of beach on Puget Sound. A very peaceful soul-feeding nature walk and great for couples and families too.
Went on a hike around 11pm on a Sunday in October. Parking had a few empty spots. Walk down to the beach is pretty easy, trail is well maintained. We got to the beach area and sat down by the logs and enjoyed for sometime. Got lucky as it wasn’t windy. The hike back is a quite uphill for a stretch.
I've been going here all my life, it's a good hike for taking little ones, but there's quite a lot of elevation gain in some parts. It's only about a mile long trail to the beach. There are areas for filling up water bottles and washing off sand once you get off the beach.
Trail conditions & character
“As can be expected of beach trails there is a steep incline leading away from the beach so be ready for a more difficult hike back to the parking area.”
“25 miles one way through pretty shaded forest along a creek, with some steep downhill to the water and a good uphill climb back (roughly 400 feet elevation change total).”
“This is a beautiful trail that goes down to the beach and you get a beautiful view of the Olympic mountains and the surrounding area.”
“Hike down with picnic items and sit on the beach or grassy area with picnic tables, running water (summer only) and porta potties.”
“A very peaceful soul-feeding nature walk and great for couples and families too.”
“The park has also gotten more wheelchair accessible, with a spacious disabled parking lot right next to the beach (it is disabled parking only).”
“This park offers trail in wooded forest, paved and flat about one mile.”
“Trail is well kept, popular with families and leashed dogs.”
“Watch your step if it's muddy, carry water for the return climb, and check tides if you plan to roam the shore.”
“It was nice to find a water fountain at the bottom near the beach!”
