Confirmed from St. Croix Boom Site State Wayside's own listing, the park or land manager's website, and runner reviews. Blank cells mean we could not verify that fact — we would rather say "not reported" than invent one. There is no Easy / Moderate / Hard rating on this page on purpose: a one-word difficulty score tells you nothing about whether a trail suits your run. Surface, distance, shade and hours do.
Timber was once sorted at this site, which is now a nature area with a picnic area & boat launch.
What runners say about St. Croix Boom Site State Wayside
“Gorgeous views and a decent walk depending on current water levels.”
“Walkable frozen river, quiet, ample parking, iced waterfall.”
I love this peaceful place. Gorgeous views and a decent walk depending on current water levels. You can put a hammock up on the shoreline, follow the river edge as far as it will take you. Pet friendly but there is some broken glass to watch out for. Great photo opportunities.
Beautiful little beach area and trails! 1 large fire pit down by the water trail and 2 smaller ones up by the "bathroom" (porter potty). Small cave by the water too! It's really sad to see there's graffiti everywhere
This is a really cool location with great hiking trails along the bluffs. So much history nearby that I wasn't aware of, along with amazing scenery along the river. Stairs are required to get below the bluffs but once below there's flat landscape along the riverside leading up to the bluffs.
A really nice place to do a quick nature hike. There isn't a decent trail you can just walk by the river but the mile long trail that was there was enjoyable enough. It had a few obstacles but worth it to see the waterfall. You can even swim and sunbathe if you want. More trail though please
