One of the best trails in Omaha. Wonderful views. Lots of shade from the mature trees in summer. Lots of wildlife that comes close to the trail: we saw deer, foxes, rabbits, many birds. Even coyote.. About 4 miles long, and now after a bridge was built, you can complete the circle.
It is great being able to get out in winter and go for a walk at Standing Bear Lake. My daughter enjoys coming with me for the park and an adventure. The new walking bridge is a great adventure! First time walking across the lake, frozen, we are not ice fisher so this was a "cool" experience for us.
Came to Omaha from the Twin Cities to see the zoo and stumbled upon a recommendation online to go to the Standing Bear Lake Park for my toddlers. We walked the opposite way along the path from where we parked and were surprisingly happy we did as the trail around (and through!) the lake are spectacular!
It is the perfect spot for enjoying nature and the home turf of WogWorks Kayaking! There is a trail that goes around the lake, including a floating portion. There are several good launching spots for kayaks and paddle boards and a boat ramp too!
