Confirmed from Staring Lake Park's own listing, the park or land manager's website, and runner reviews. Blank cells mean we could not verify that fact — we would rather say "not reported" than invent one. There is no Easy / Moderate / Hard rating on this page on purpose: a one-word difficulty score tells you nothing about whether a trail suits your run. Surface, distance, shade and hours do.

Beautiful trails: The loop is approximately 2.25 miles around the perimeter of the lake. Most of the trail is remote with trees on both sides of the path. Parking is available on the South and West sides of the lake. Public boat launch is on the North side of the lake.

Stumbled on this hidden gem for a sunrise...could not have been more gorgeous! The trail to get to the lake was off path and my shoes/pants got pretty wet but it was so worth it! Huge playground...long paths to follow. Great park! Huge open areas too

Nice snow sledding and tubing hill area. Great park and play area for kids , we call it as Blue Park :) . Nice lake to walk/run/jog for 2.5 miles

★★★★★ — Poorana , Jan 2023

Nice park with path around the lake and amazing playground. Have sliding hill and looks like cross country ski trails during winter.

Trail conditions & character

What this trail is actually like underfoot and overhead, taken from its own listing and from reviews. Each one links to every other trail with the same character. Busy or quiet is reported as a plain fact, not a plus or a minus — a runner heading out alone at dawn often wants company on the path, and someone running intervals wants an empty one.

⛰️ Hills / elevation 10 mentions

“Water jugs that owners will walk up the hill to fill so that dogs can have fresh water in the bowls near the picnic table.”

The practical stuff

  • AccessPosted hours — posted hours below; park gates sometimes close earlier than the listing says
  • SurfacePaved — asphalt or concrete. Fast and predictable, runnable year-round, and fine with a stroller
  • DistanceNot reported. Trail systems often quote total path mileage rather than a single loop, so measure the route you actually want before you drive out.
  • ShadeRunners describe real tree cover here — it makes a summer afternoon workable
  • At the trailheadparking — reported by runners
  • DogsWelcome, per reviewers. Leash rules vary by park — the trailhead sign is the authority.
