Confirmed from Steed Park's own listing, the park or land manager's website, and runner reviews. Blank cells mean we could not verify that fact — we would rather say "not reported" than invent one. There is no Easy / Moderate / Hard rating on this page on purpose: a one-word difficulty score tells you nothing about whether a trail suits your run. Surface, distance, shade and hours do.

What runners say about Steed Park

Pulled from public reviews of this trail (1,037 of them) — the things people bring up again and again, in their own words. Nothing here is written by us.

well-maintained 4 mentions

“Playground equipment is well maintained and close by the pond for restless fishers.”

🏞️ beautiful scenery 4 mentions

“I like that you can take a paved trail near the railroad tracks just east of the park, I saw some beautiful horses and lots of birds.”

An enjoyable park with great walking trail loop and lots of playground choices, as long as you go on a weekend or when the nearby elementary isn't in session. Duck pond is low due to drought conditions, but ducks and geese are still there. We love feeding them corn and peas.

The park could use some work in the duck pond. It's a nice park otherwise. The DRGW railroad trail is one of my favorite trails. If you're looking to roll around on wheels or take a nice job or walk it's perfect. There's plenty of space for pedestrians to travel on either side of the trail.

Such a beautiful park with many playing areas. You can fish, feed ducks, play volleyball, tennis, walk the trails, play on the fun new playground, picnic, etc! We got family photos taken here a few years ago by the pond and they turned out great. Very fun place to visit, and if you haven't been - go!

Trail conditions & character

What this trail is actually like underfoot and overhead, taken from its own listing and from reviews. Each one links to every other trail with the same character. Busy or quiet is reported as a plain fact, not a plus or a minus — a runner heading out alone at dawn often wants company on the path, and someone running intervals wants an empty one.

The practical stuff

  • AccessPosted hours — posted hours below; park gates sometimes close earlier than the listing says
  • SurfacePaved — asphalt or concrete. Fast and predictable, runnable year-round, and fine with a stroller
  • DistanceNot reported. Trail systems often quote total path mileage rather than a single loop, so measure the route you actually want before you drive out.
  • ShadeNot reported. Assume some of it is exposed and carry water in summer.
  • LightingRunners report lights on the path — useful for pre-dawn and after-work miles. Lighting and opening hours are separate things, so check both.
  • At the trailheadparking, restrooms, water — reported by runners
  • Stroller / wheelchairReported as smooth and step-free enough for a running stroller or a chair.
