Confirmed from Steyermark Woods Conservation Area's own listing, the park or land manager's website, and runner reviews. Blank cells mean we could not verify that fact — we would rather say "not reported" than invent one. There is no Easy / Moderate / Hard rating on this page on purpose: a one-word difficulty score tells you nothing about whether a trail suits your run. Surface, distance, shade and hours do.
73 acres of forest popular for wildlife viewing, mountain biking, hiking & archery hunting.
What runners say about Steyermark Woods Conservation Area
“Beautiful day to witness the first signs of Spring.”
“The paths are easy to follow, and the frozen waterfall and brilliant mosses and lichens made up for the lack of foliage.”
This was an amazing nature hike! I went slow and thoroughly enjoyed being immersed in nature. The canopy of trees overhead is very tall and it's a really cool hike. A trillion colors of green! It took me 1hr 20 min, but again I was leisurely walking.
Even in Winter this place makes for a nice hike. The paths are easy to follow, and the frozen waterfall and brilliant mosses and lichens made up for the lack of foliage. We plan to return in Spring.
There is a basset hound that lives near the trailhead that runs over to say hi. He is super cute and friendly but if you have dog aggressive dogs it can be a hassle.
Great place to hike. Interesting spring house and waterfall on the extended loop.

“There needs to be better trail markers as we encountered being at a 3 way a few times and ended up walking very far away.”

The practical stuff
- AccessPosted hours — posted hours below; park gates sometimes close earlier than the listing says
- SurfacePaved — asphalt or concrete. Fast and predictable, runnable year-round, and fine with a stroller
- DistanceNot reported. Trail systems often quote total path mileage rather than a single loop, so measure the route you actually want before you drive out.
- ShadeNot reported. Assume some of it is exposed and carry water in summer.
- At the trailheadparking — reported by runners
- DogsWelcome, per reviewers. Leash rules vary by park — the trailhead sign is the authority.
