Confirmed from Stunson Nature Trail's own listing, the park or land manager's website, and runner reviews. Blank cells mean we could not verify that fact — we would rather say "not reported" than invent one. There is no Easy / Moderate / Hard rating on this page on purpose: a one-word difficulty score tells you nothing about whether a trail suits your run. Surface, distance, shade and hours do.

🌾 quiet & peaceful 3 mentions

“Always very peaceful, clean and beautiful”

Arrived to late to walk the trail. No parking here. Parked at adjacent Royal Palm Park and walked to Stunson. (about 100 yards.) Looks beautiful. Will come back to walk the whole path. The walking path is gravel but smooth.

★★★★★ — Bernard , Jan 2021

Stunson Nature trail opened on April 27, 2018. It was created in partnership with many community groups including the School Board of Broward County, Florida Sea Grant, and Florida Urban Community Forestry Grant. The nature trail is named for longtime city manager John Stunson who died in November of 2016.

It's a wonderful small place with native plants, birds and butterflies. Circular in design with comfortable gravel to walk on. I would describe this as a cross between a botanical garden and a wild natural trail but on a small scale, Lovely!

It's a short little walk but so pretty! We saw butterflies lizards and ducks! It's really peaceful. There is no shade, so come prepared 😎

Trail conditions & character

What this trail is actually like underfoot and overhead, taken from its own listing and from reviews. Each one links to every other trail with the same character. Busy or quiet is reported as a plain fact, not a plus or a minus — a runner heading out alone at dawn often wants company on the path, and someone running intervals wants an empty one.

The practical stuff

  • AccessPosted hours — posted hours below; park gates sometimes close earlier than the listing says
  • SurfaceMixed — more than one surface along the route, so check the segment you plan to run
  • DistanceNot reported. Trail systems often quote total path mileage rather than a single loop, so measure the route you actually want before you drive out.
  • ShadeNot reported. Assume some of it is exposed and carry water in summer.
  • At the trailheadparking — reported by runners
  • DogsWelcome, per reviewers. Leash rules vary by park — the trailhead sign is the authority.
