Confirmed from Sugarloaf Park's own listing, the park or land manager's website, and runner reviews. Blank cells mean we could not verify that fact — we would rather say "not reported" than invent one. There is no Easy / Moderate / Hard rating on this page on purpose: a one-word difficulty score tells you nothing about whether a trail suits your run. Surface, distance, shade and hours do.

What runners say about Sugarloaf Park

Pulled from public reviews of this trail (62 of them) — the things people bring up again and again, in their own words. Nothing here is written by us.

🏞️ beautiful scenery 4 mentions

“We stopped here looking for a scenic park with a forest feel to take a couple of pictures and really enjoyed the tall mature trees and fall leaf covered hills of this cute park.”

What a beautiful place to go hiking! There aren't many trails, but I love the twists and turns and steep hills. The park has a very rustic feel to it, and is quite peaceful. It's a great spot to exercise and bring your dog. I've added Sugar Loaf to my list of favorite nature preserves. 🍃

Great hidden path in the downtown Granville. The wife and I made work of the hike and was happy to get to the top! Doing that a couple of times made for a great workout! If you live in Granville and haven’t checked it out then you are missing out! I believe there are some geocaches there as well.

Great walk if you are trying to kill some time or if you want to get into nature from downtown Granville.

★★★★★ — Jared , Sep 2016

Stopped by recently and I enjoyed the short trails around the hill. Great way to escape for 30 minutes.

Trail conditions & character

What this trail is actually like underfoot and overhead, taken from its own listing and from reviews. Each one links to every other trail with the same character. Busy or quiet is reported as a plain fact, not a plus or a minus — a runner heading out alone at dawn often wants company on the path, and someone running intervals wants an empty one.

The practical stuff

  • AccessOpen 24 hours — no gate to beat, so a 5am or a 10pm run both work
  • DistanceNot reported. Trail systems often quote total path mileage rather than a single loop, so measure the route you actually want before you drive out.
  • ShadeNot reported. Assume some of it is exposed and carry water in summer.
