Confirmed from Sunset Hill Farm County Park's own listing, the park or land manager's website, and runner reviews. Blank cells mean we could not verify that fact — we would rather say "not reported" than invent one. There is no Easy / Moderate / Hard rating on this page on purpose: a one-word difficulty score tells you nothing about whether a trail suits your run. Surface, distance, shade and hours do.
Natural recreation area on a former farm with wooded trails, campsites & regular events.

Sunset Hills has been a mainstay in my life! Beautiful park and plenty of history behind it! Good, clean playground for the kids and walking trails around the whole place. This is one of my favorite places around Valparaiso. Close to Rte 6, but traffic noise is minimal.
This was my first time on the trails here and it was so beautiful and well kept! I was thrilled to see some animals out too.
Beautiful clean park . The hiking trails were cut back and easy to make down.
Sunset Hill is a remarkable multipurpose park where you can walk in the woods, prairie, sunflower fields, a farm setting with animals, a natural science facility, science building, Illiana railroad station, Christmas light display that is a multi state attraction every year.

“We went in the day (so not for the Christmas lights), and we saw decorated Christmas trees, a story walk, and a miniature train set up (though it wasn't running when we went).”

Plan your run at Sunset Hill Farm County Park
The practical stuff
- AccessDawn to dusk — the gates close, so do not plan a run that finishes after dark
- DistanceNot reported. Trail systems often quote total path mileage rather than a single loop, so measure the route you actually want before you drive out.
- ShadeNot reported. Assume some of it is exposed and carry water in summer.
- LightingRunners report lights on the path — useful for pre-dawn and after-work miles. Lighting and opening hours are separate things, so check both.
