Confirmed from Sunset Whitney Recreation Area's own listing, the park or land manager's website, and runner reviews. Blank cells mean we could not verify that fact — we would rather say "not reported" than invent one. There is no Easy / Moderate / Hard rating on this page on purpose: a one-word difficulty score tells you nothing about whether a trail suits your run. Surface, distance, shade and hours do.
Nature-reclaimed former golf course featuring trails for walking, biking, and running.
What runners say about Sunset Whitney Recreation Area
“Lots of area to run around and play, a lot to offer and clean bathrooms.”
“Beautiful views as you walk along paths of this old golf course.”
“Best place to take a stroll, run, or ride a bike in Rocklin.”
“I just with there were some more shade trees and benches, but I suppose those will come at a later time.”
“It is a great place to have a peaceful walk.”
Happy to see an old golf course turn into a public open space, but there is room for much improvement in regards to habitat restoration, trail condition, and drainage issues. Would love to see more native oak trees planted to replace the invasive eucalyptus and olives.
The new trail is open and awesome. It's a loop that starts down the path to the left from the parking lot and meanders along until it crosses Argonaut and continues back to tjre old clubhouse and parking lot. Great place to walk or ride a bike with the family.
This is one of our favorite walking areas. Beautiful scenery with nice, paved paths.
Best place to take a stroll, run, or ride a bike in Rocklin. Love the trail!
