Confirmed from Swope Park Trails - Wudchuk Run Trail Head's own listing, the park or land manager's website, and runner reviews. Blank cells mean we could not verify that fact — we would rather say "not reported" than invent one. There is no Easy / Moderate / Hard rating on this page on purpose: a one-word difficulty score tells you nothing about whether a trail suits your run. Surface, distance, shade and hours do.
Wooded hiking route and single-track bicycle paths featuring deer, plus picnic tables.
What runners say about Swope Park Trails - Wudchuk Run Trail Head
“it’s still beautiful and I was delighted to go out here one very cold morning last month.”
This trail is very pleasant. Perfect for a nice moderate hike of about three hours. Some reviews mention traffic noise but most of the trail is quiet. Even on a Sunday morning in spring there was little foot or bike traffic
This place is in the midst of Kansas City yet makes you feel like you are out in the wilderness. I love nature and hiking and camping so I sort of dislike bringing attention I places like this so that it doesn’t get bombarded and destroyed but this place is in the middle of Kansas City...
First trail run in Kansas City and I had a blast. Great scenery. Easy grades and enough technicality to make it fun. Didn't know trail so I had to use GPS a few times to get reoriented. Saw a bunch of deer. I will be coming back again when in town.
Even though I didn’t get to enjoy the full trail due to my Bike tire blowing out I would most definitely be going back

The practical stuff
- AccessOpen 24 hours — no gate to beat, so a 5am or a 10pm run both work
- SurfaceNatural surface — easiest on the joints and the most fun, but expect roots, rocks and mud after rain
- DistanceNot reported. Trail systems often quote total path mileage rather than a single loop, so measure the route you actually want before you drive out.
- ShadeNot reported. Assume some of it is exposed and carry water in summer.
- DogsWelcome, per reviewers. Leash rules vary by park — the trailhead sign is the authority.
