Confirmed from Cave Spring Park's own listing, the park or land manager's website, and runner reviews. Blank cells mean we could not verify that fact — we would rather say "not reported" than invent one. There is no Easy / Moderate / Hard rating on this page on purpose: a one-word difficulty score tells you nothing about whether a trail suits your run. Surface, distance, shade and hours do.
Wooded nature area with trails for hiking, plus a park and waterfalls.
What runners say about Cave Spring Park
“Didn’t go to the cave due to mud which seems to be very beautiful too.”
Park includes few trails , it also includes some art wood which was nice to look at, entry is free and there are benches to rest along the trails. The reason I give this 4 is the portable bathroom. I do recommend visiting
Nice little slice of nature in the middle of the town. There are a few little hidden caves sprinkled throughout the path. The little pond could be cleaner but that's just me nit-picking. Overall, it's a great little get away for a nature pause during your day.
Really enjoyed being there. It was after rain 🌧 and sidewalks were muddy. Hiked through the paved path it was really a jungle like feels. Chimneys have historic accent. This park is kept in well maintained still gave 💯 natural feels. Didn’t go to the cave due to mud which seems to be very beautiful too.
Some paved trail, but mostly natural paths. I love the raw, primitive, undisturbed essence of the trail here. Not too much signage, but enough to keep you wandering. Lovely surprises and delightful nature in the heart of the city. A new favorite that I've passed by often but won't soon forget about. Excited to return.

The practical stuff
- AccessDawn to dusk — the gates close, so do not plan a run that finishes after dark
- SurfacePaved — asphalt or concrete. Fast and predictable, runnable year-round, and fine with a stroller
- DistanceNot reported. Trail systems often quote total path mileage rather than a single loop, so measure the route you actually want before you drive out.
- ShadeNot reported. Assume some of it is exposed and carry water in summer.
- At the trailheadrestrooms — reported by runners
- DogsWelcome, per reviewers. Leash rules vary by park — the trailhead sign is the authority.
