Confirmed from Sylvan Trail's own listing, the park or land manager's website, and runner reviews. Blank cells mean we could not verify that fact — we would rather say "not reported" than invent one. There is no Easy / Moderate / Hard rating on this page on purpose: a one-word difficulty score tells you nothing about whether a trail suits your run. Surface, distance, shade and hours do.
What runners say about Sylvan Trail
Warning: Hunting and trapping near trail, wear orange and keep dogs leashed or don't risk it! Easy to traverse loop, mostly flat and very well marked. Half of the trail runs within earshot of the highway. There are some small bridges and wooden planks in the wet areas that can get slippery.
The trail follows an old logging road through a mixture of deciduous and evergreen trees until reaching a large field. The trail follows the edge of the field and re-enters the woods. Total length (round trip) is about 1.7 miles.
EDIT: Sign posted Nov 2020 warns of leg traps near the trail. Be careful with off-leash pets! It can be very buggy and the highway noise is very prominent until the trail turns away from the road, but this is a very pleasant trail and lightly traveled (in my experience).
