Confirmed from The Bump And Grind's own listing, the park or land manager's website, and runner reviews. Blank cells mean we could not verify that fact — we would rather say "not reported" than invent one. There is no Easy / Moderate / Hard rating on this page on purpose: a one-word difficulty score tells you nothing about whether a trail suits your run. Surface, distance, shade and hours do.
Popular, narrow hiking trail up a steep hillside offering scenic views of the valley.
What runners say about The Bump And Grind
“The loop is about 3 miles or so total and offers some great views and scenery of the Palm Springs area and nearby mountain ranges.”
Bump and Grind is a 4.0-mile loop trail, the first mile is a narrow trail and pretty tough, steeper climb and warmer than expected. Went clockwise. But very doable. rocky, sunny and lots of people. Nice view!
This is a very nice loop trail but can be an out and back if you want. If your hard core trail go to the left and get the majority of the hard work done out the gate, mostly downhill from there. To the right is a good warm up to hit the incline on the back and and a sharp end to finish.
Good starting place for hiking the Palm Springs area. Beautiful views along a relatively easy 2 hour hike, that has a reasonable elevation to get you working! We kept to the easier part of the loop (there is one side that gets steep). Fortunately not busy the day we hiked, although I hear the trails can get crowded.
Best time to come early before heating up or later in the afternoon 1&1/2 hr before sunset. Great elevation workout in short distance from urban living, street parking, bring water, no bathroom, running shoes, watchful and give way to downhill mountain bikers

“I just did a short 3 mile loop (there are several options), but it had almost 1,000 feet of vertical gain snd a steep area of descent.”
