Confirmed from The Ingraham Preserve at the Cedar River Preserve: The Leelanau Conservancy's own listing, the park or land manager's website, and runner reviews. Blank cells mean we could not verify that fact — we would rather say "not reported" than invent one. There is no Easy / Moderate / Hard rating on this page on purpose: a one-word difficulty score tells you nothing about whether a trail suits your run. Surface, distance, shade and hours do.
What runners say about The Ingraham Preserve at the Cedar River Preserve: The Leelanau Conservancy
“The Cedar River is a gorgeous place to canoe, kayak, or even SUP ‐— as long as you stay on the board.”
The Cedar River is a gorgeous place to canoe, kayak, or even SUP ‐— as long as you stay on the board. The river bottom is not solid, and we do have big snapping turtles. There's no place to stop and get out along the way. It's pure wetlands. The best time to see wildlife is early morning or late afternoon.
Cedar River is such a beautiful place to be it whether you are kayaking or walking around it it's just lovely lots of little fish in there we also saw a giant snapping turtle watch your toesies lol I just love looking at the Tannin Rich water and it's such a peaceful place to go kayaking 🛶 definitely recommend…
Beautiful 1.3 mile hike with seasonal views of south Lake Leelanau and the Cedar River. Rolling terrain and peaceful landscapes. Adding to my favorites in Leelanau County.
Short trail, less than 2 mi. Very well maintained and very hilly. Get ready to give your legs a workout.

The practical stuff
- AccessOpen 24 hours — no gate to beat, so a 5am or a 10pm run both work
- DistanceNot reported. Trail systems often quote total path mileage rather than a single loop, so measure the route you actually want before you drive out.
- ShadeNot reported. Assume some of it is exposed and carry water in summer.
- LightingRunners report lights on the path — useful for pre-dawn and after-work miles. Lighting and opening hours are separate things, so check both.
- DogsWelcome, per reviewers. Leash rules vary by park — the trailhead sign is the authority.
