Confirmed from The Lakes Trail's own listing, the park or land manager's website, and runner reviews. Blank cells mean we could not verify that fact — we would rather say "not reported" than invent one. There is no Easy / Moderate / Hard rating on this page on purpose: a one-word difficulty score tells you nothing about whether a trail suits your run. Surface, distance, shade and hours do.

What runners say about The Lakes Trail

Pulled from public reviews of this trail (107 of them) — the things people bring up again and again, in their own words. Nothing here is written by us.

🏞️ beautiful scenery 5 mentions

“Beautiful walk but not what we were looking for.”

🌾 quiet & peaceful 3 mentions

“Still, it was a quiet peaceful place with only a few parking spots.”

👟 good for all levels 2 mentions

“This is a paved loop going around the lakes, it's a very easy walk and a great place to bring your kids or dog.”

This is a great little trail. It's wide and paved the whole way. The Strava app puts it at 1.55 miles with no elevation gain at all. Wether you just want to stretch your legs or pack up the kids and have a walk and a picnic this trail is perfect.

Great place for an easy walk! Needed to get out of the house so found this place on G maps and decided to check it out. It's completely flat and loops in a circle, maybe 1 mile total. I believe there used to be more little lakes but there is only 1 small one left now.

Beautiful walk but not what we were looking for. This is a paved loop going around the lakes, it's a very easy walk and a great place to bring your kids or dog. We just prefer nature trails and this feels more like you are walking through people's back yards.

★★★★☆ — Angel , Jun 2021

Beautiful place for a doggo walk! The walkway is paved, and there are a number of yards that back up to the trail that have beautiful grass for the puppers to roll around on, which can be difficult to come by.

Trail conditions & character

What this trail is actually like underfoot and overhead, taken from its own listing and from reviews. Each one links to every other trail with the same character. Busy or quiet is reported as a plain fact, not a plus or a minus — a runner heading out alone at dawn often wants company on the path, and someone running intervals wants an empty one.

🏞️ Scenic views 7 mentions

“There is one side to the South where the plants open up and you can get a better view.”

The practical stuff

  • AccessPosted hours — posted hours below; park gates sometimes close earlier than the listing says
  • SurfacePaved — asphalt or concrete. Fast and predictable, runnable year-round, and fine with a stroller
  • DistanceNot reported. Trail systems often quote total path mileage rather than a single loop, so measure the route you actually want before you drive out.
  • ShadeNot reported. Assume some of it is exposed and carry water in summer.
  • At the trailheadrestrooms — reported by runners
  • DogsWelcome, per reviewers. Leash rules vary by park — the trailhead sign is the authority.
