Confirmed from The Preserve of Highland Park's own listing, the park or land manager's website, and runner reviews. Blank cells mean we could not verify that fact — we would rather say "not reported" than invent one. There is no Easy / Moderate / Hard rating on this page on purpose: a one-word difficulty score tells you nothing about whether a trail suits your run. Surface, distance, shade and hours do.

We visited the Preserve of Highland Park this past Sunday and thoroughly enjoyed this beautiful nature park. It's about 100 acres in size with 5 miles of black-topped trails winding through the many mature trees and meadows and around the ponds.

Incredible. Quiet, natural and very beautiful space. I feel extremely grateful to live in a community that has something like this. Walking trails winding through gardens and prairies. Plenty of space and picnic benches to sit and relax at. Great place to unwind or spend time with friends and family

SO much better than yet another golf course. Public green space is lacking, anymore, so I was very pleased to hear this one was going to parkland. It's not going to change your life, but it's a nice, quiet moment in the green, and getting better, every year.

A wonderful gift from HP to the public. Great place to walk with the dog

Trail conditions & character

What this trail is actually like underfoot and overhead, taken from its own listing and from reviews. Each one links to every other trail with the same character. Busy or quiet is reported as a plain fact, not a plus or a minus — a runner heading out alone at dawn often wants company on the path, and someone running intervals wants an empty one.

🐕 Dog-friendly 6 mentions

“I gave it five stars because the dog really likes to go for walks there.”
