Confirmed from Theodore Roosevelt State Natural Area Dedicated Nature Preserve's own listing, the park or land manager's website, and runner reviews. Blank cells mean we could not verify that fact — we would rather say "not reported" than invent one. There is no Easy / Moderate / Hard rating on this page on purpose: a one-word difficulty score tells you nothing about whether a trail suits your run. Surface, distance, shade and hours do.
What runners say about Theodore Roosevelt State Natural Area Dedicated Nature Preserve
“Beautiful and easily accessible walking trails with fun surprises for the kids including a floating bridge and tree play area next door to NC Aquarium.”
“We loved our visit with the sharks turtles, many fish and interactive activities for all ages.”
All the upgrades they have done here have really paid off. You have nice parking, gift shop, and the Aquarium is split up into different regions of NC. You can even walk about a mile trail outside which was nice when we went but I would imagine it being buggy and hot in the Summer months.
The trails here are full of wildlife. One trail by the NC Aquarium in particular is amazing. However, I would advise not to travel this trail alone. People rarely walk it and if you were to get injured no one would know you are there. It's a beautiful trail and well worth the hike ... just go with a friend.
Nice clear hiking path that follows the marsh. Easy walk but watch for the Orb Weavers that like to build webs close to the path. Nice views of marsh fowl, crabs, and other wildlife. Didn't have any problems with mosquitos or biting insects. Simple out and back hike.
Great place for family, lots of learning, interactive hands on learning, nature trail was great, seeing birds, squirrels right near you without being afraid. Great place. I brought my grandboys and they loved it!
