We have not been able to confirm the surface, distance or shape of Thoreau Wildlife Reserve yet from its own listing, the park's website or runner reviews — so those cells stay blank rather than guess. What is below comes straight from the listing and from reviewers' own words. There is no Easy / Moderate / Hard rating on this page on purpose: a one-word difficulty score tells you nothing about whether a trail suits your run. Surface, distance, shade and hours do.
What runners say about Thoreau Wildlife Reserve
“A beautiful little nature preserve tucked back in a little cove.”
Was so excited to find this hidden treasure today. So much beauty in this town. Can not believe we have lived here almost two years and never knew about it. Such amazing land. The trees were unreal. Ducks, frogs, turkey, snakes, birds galore. Tons of deer tracks but didn't actually see the deer.
I enjoyed my hike. Only, I got lost back in there as it was my first time there. I looked at the map where I parked, but that was the only map I had seen as I walked the different trails. I finally thought I saw a green roof and top part of a brown building across a long way and headed that direction.
Well cared for trails in the woods and fields. Nice pond in the back. Lots of birds and usually see deer.
Trail conditions & character
“However, there was a map on the front side of the building that overlooked a pond.”
