Confirmed from Tingler Prairie Natural Area's own listing, the park or land manager's website, and runner reviews. Blank cells mean we could not verify that fact — we would rather say "not reported" than invent one. There is no Easy / Moderate / Hard rating on this page on purpose: a one-word difficulty score tells you nothing about whether a trail suits your run. Surface, distance, shade and hours do.

🌾 quiet & peaceful 4 mentions

“Nice quiet place for a walk.”

Spent delightful 3 hours exploring the Prairie trail and lake trail. Looking forward to exploring the Woodland trail. Fortunate to have the entire place to myself. Saw three different warblers and several other birds in the wetland areas.

I gave it 5 stars because it is a great place and it was a beautiful day when we went. We enjoyed the nice paths through the woods, fields and marshes. The frogs were very melodious when we were there. It was a delight. The lake is very pleasant. We saw many birds and this added to the pleasure with the environment.

This is a well maintained conservation area that features a unique sinkhole pond, forest, and replanted prairie. Well maintained trails provide an opportunity for several choices of distance and habitats to walk through.

Beware of Ticks! Nice quiet place for a walk. Most of the trail was freshly mowed. Bug spray is a must. I went without and have never had so many ticks in all my life. I never left the trail but did walk the portion that needed mowed. If there is trail access to water I never found it.

Trail conditions & character

What this trail is actually like underfoot and overhead, taken from its own listing and from reviews. Each one links to every other trail with the same character. Busy or quiet is reported as a plain fact, not a plus or a minus — a runner heading out alone at dawn often wants company on the path, and someone running intervals wants an empty one.

Plan your run at Tingler Prairie Natural Area

The practical stuff

  • AccessDawn to dusk — the gates close, so do not plan a run that finishes after dark
  • SurfacePaved — asphalt or concrete. Fast and predictable, runnable year-round, and fine with a stroller
  • DistanceNot reported. Trail systems often quote total path mileage rather than a single loop, so measure the route you actually want before you drive out.
  • ShadeNot reported. Assume some of it is exposed and carry water in summer.
  • At the trailheadparking — reported by runners
  • DogsWelcome, per reviewers. Leash rules vary by park — the trailhead sign is the authority.
