Confirmed from Town of Chili Nature Trail's own listing, the park or land manager's website, and runner reviews. Blank cells mean we could not verify that fact — we would rather say "not reported" than invent one. There is no Easy / Moderate / Hard rating on this page on purpose: a one-word difficulty score tells you nothing about whether a trail suits your run. Surface, distance, shade and hours do.
Area with trails for hiking that offers wildlife sightings and overlooks of Black Creek.
What runners say about Town of Chili Nature Trail
I love bringing my dog on this trail. It's well maintained and it can get us a nice hour walk in. The leaves changing are beautiful and it is not crowded. I hardly run into people when I'm on the trail.
A great use of some landlocked real estate. There are plenty of trails, a couple of which take you to Black Creek. There is also a pond and an overhead shelter. Kids sometimes cause mischief. Parking is good, but odd that you have to drive through the apartment complex to get there.
It's the fall so there will be nice transitions to see. Just be careful of hard fallen fruits or nuts from the tree. I'm not sure what it is, from my experience not seeing one under the leaves I almost rolled my ankle. Be careful and happy hiking!
The trails were fun in the summer, different options for paths to take (may want to bring bug spray). Currently in late November, there is a bunch of flooding not far from the trailhead, so the area was inaccessible. Agreed with previous reviewers who suggested parking in view of the apartment complex.

The practical stuff
- AccessPosted hours — posted hours below; park gates sometimes close earlier than the listing says
- SurfaceNatural surface — easiest on the joints and the most fun, but expect roots, rocks and mud after rain
- DistanceNot reported. Trail systems often quote total path mileage rather than a single loop, so measure the route you actually want before you drive out.
- ShadeNot reported. Assume some of it is exposed and carry water in summer.
- At the trailheadparking — reported by runners
- DogsWelcome, per reviewers. Leash rules vary by park — the trailhead sign is the authority.
