Confirmed from Townsend Park's own listing, the park or land manager's website, and runner reviews. Blank cells mean we could not verify that fact — we would rather say "not reported" than invent one. There is no Easy / Moderate / Hard rating on this page on purpose: a one-word difficulty score tells you nothing about whether a trail suits your run. Surface, distance, shade and hours do.
Picnic-friendly park featuring hiking trails, a pond, fishing and a gazebo.
What runners say about Townsend Park
“The area around the pond is inviting and so peaceful.”
I was exploring new parks in the area looking for somewhere with a trail and also a paved parking lot as my kids are learning to ride their bikes. This park was absolutely perfect. They have a pond that they stock with fish for the kids which is so precious. The area around the pond is inviting and so peaceful.
Very nice park for the pup. Trails nicely marked. Everyone we came across so nice!
One of the best kept secrets in Murrysville... actually it's not a "secret" As the Municipalty of Murrysville publishes info about it from Music with beer and vendor trucks on Tuesadays in the summer, to its trails and fishing, but it seems few residents take advantage of all it has to offer those of all ages
Nice park for a walk and a place for photos. Love the funny signs around as well.
Trail conditions & character
“I recommend hiking to the top of heartattack hill for a nice view during the winter.”

The practical stuff
- AccessPosted hours — posted hours below; park gates sometimes close earlier than the listing says
- SurfacePaved — asphalt or concrete. Fast and predictable, runnable year-round, and fine with a stroller
- DistanceNot reported. Trail systems often quote total path mileage rather than a single loop, so measure the route you actually want before you drive out.
- ShadeNot reported. Assume some of it is exposed and carry water in summer.
- DogsWelcome, per reviewers. Leash rules vary by park — the trailhead sign is the authority.
