Confirmed from Towpath Trail-John Glenn Grove Trailhead's own listing, the park or land manager's website, and runner reviews. Blank cells mean we could not verify that fact — we would rather say "not reported" than invent one. There is no Easy / Moderate / Hard rating on this page on purpose: a one-word difficulty score tells you nothing about whether a trail suits your run. Surface, distance, shade and hours do.

“These trails are gorgeous plus their shaded”

🌾 quiet & peaceful 3 mentions

“Its usually not crowded either which is good.”

You can go as far as you'd like or turn around easily. It's a beautiful trail. It's also great for bicycles (tire pump with adapters) and horses (parking is good too). There are benches posted about a mile apart, and everyone we've ever walked past was polite.

I really like this section of the towpath. We saw a lot of turtles and frogs. There was a muskrat eating in the canal. There were not a lot of people.

★★★★★ — Jmarie , Mar 2024

Fun place for a quick walk or longer hike. The trail is mostly flat. It follows the Ohio Erie Towpath and Tuscarawas River. The is some occasional wildlife to see, deer, fox, geese, and if you're lucky an eagle once in a while. MAKE SURE YOU BRING MOSQUITO SPRAY. In the summer mosquitos are abundant.

We did a 4 mile bike ride round trip , had to turn around cause of flooding but still very nice ride. We seen alot of turtles and ppl hiking the trails.

Trail conditions & character

What this trail is actually like underfoot and overhead, taken from its own listing and from reviews. Each one links to every other trail with the same character. Busy or quiet is reported as a plain fact, not a plus or a minus — a runner heading out alone at dawn often wants company on the path, and someone running intervals wants an empty one.
