Confirmed from Trailhead #3's own listing, the park or land manager's website, and runner reviews. Blank cells mean we could not verify that fact — we would rather say "not reported" than invent one. There is no Easy / Moderate / Hard rating on this page on purpose: a one-word difficulty score tells you nothing about whether a trail suits your run. Surface, distance, shade and hours do.
What runners say about Trailhead #3
An awesome short walk to the edge of a cliff face. A bit rocky, takes a little bit of technical walking. Wouldn't call this a "hike", but does take some watching where you're stepping and staying steady on your feet. High reward for the short walk! Trail isn't marked clearly, but is to the left of the road/parking.
One of the best views in the Black Hills, incredible and apparently a hidden gem. The trail is only about 1-2 minute walk from the car and the parking lot is literally right off 44.
If you want to expend the lowest amount of effort, yet receive a high reward, then this is probably the hike for you. Excellent views of Rapid Creek. The wildflowers in June are absolutely stunning. Sheer cliffs and exposure exist at the end of the 500 foot long trail and areas south of it, so keep kids close.
This is also known as falling rock trail. Short 1/3 mile trail to a valley vista from the cliffs. Nice view and worth the walk.
