This is a parking lot and also a trail to SR 100 access point located at the beginning or end of the Palatka Lake Butler trail (depending on one's perspective). If you park here, and enter the trail to the right, the trail ends a few hundred meters beyond, while if you turn left, you can ride a very beautiful, scenic…
Great place to park if you are on the east end of the PLB trail Somebody in another review of this trail head parking said the trail goes all the way to Lake Butler. That is not yet true as of 3.27.23. As if 3.27.23 the trail is paved all the way to Hampton that is just east of State Road 301.
Ample parking space, great for a free overnight stop for those with motorhomes who want a good, peaceful nights sleep. There is traffic, but it's usually not bad at night, and the night critters will lull you to sleep. Would be a fine spot for a picnic, or photo op location with the beautiful forest in the background.
My son and I was out for a Sunday ride and I have never been or even knew about Trailhead East and he went that direction and it was very very scenic I totally love to drive there the atmosphere everything about it was superb I can now tell my family and friends about that and give them a nice Sunday drive also
