Confirmed from Triple Locks Park's own listing, the park or land manager's website, and runner reviews. Blank cells mean we could not verify that fact — we would rather say "not reported" than invent one. There is no Easy / Moderate / Hard rating on this page on purpose: a one-word difficulty score tells you nothing about whether a trail suits your run. Surface, distance, shade and hours do.

This is a large remaining section of the Ohio Erie Canal that used a triple lock, you can cross the bridge, walk the bottom of the canal or check out the towpath that runs beside. Beautiful spot. It's too bad there's not a picture of it in operation with the wooden boardwalk in place.

★★★★★ — Jason , Jun 2025

Interesting park to visit as you can see three Ohio Canal locks that go uphill/downhill and can walk in the lock as well as go over the lock on the bridge.

Have walked here for years, had family reunions here and just sat at one of the shelters and relaxed and enjoyed the peace and quiet while watching squirrels and the birds and just enjoying the park as a whole.

This canal town is restored in 1830's. This was a busy town when the Ohio and Erie Canal was bustling with Canal boats. There are places to visit like museums and exhibits, and experience a horse-drawn canal boat ride.

Trail conditions & character

What this trail is actually like underfoot and overhead, taken from its own listing and from reviews. Each one links to every other trail with the same character. Busy or quiet is reported as a plain fact, not a plus or a minus — a runner heading out alone at dawn often wants company on the path, and someone running intervals wants an empty one.
