Confirmed from Union Park's own listing, the park or land manager's website, and runner reviews. Blank cells mean we could not verify that fact — we would rather say "not reported" than invent one. There is no Easy / Moderate / Hard rating on this page on purpose: a one-word difficulty score tells you nothing about whether a trail suits your run. Surface, distance, shade and hours do.

What runners say about Union Park

Pulled from public reviews of this trail (749 of them) — the things people bring up again and again, in their own words. Nothing here is written by us.

well-maintained 4 mentions

“It's fairly clean, places to sit & eat and LOTS of shade.”

🌳 shaded & cool 14 mentions

“We came at noon on a hot day but the playground is covered with trees and shade so we could play for a long time.”

Amazing park! There are so many trees around this park that it has a lot of shade - even in the middle of the day. It's very fun and brightly colored. There is a pavilion with picnic tables, restrooms and a walking path.

My daughter (7) is a park/playground critic. Since I have been taking her to parks, it's been her quest to find the best park of all parks, in the valley. I don't know what you did to win her over Union Park, but you're her new fave! Nice setting, clean, very modern and safe setup.

I love going here with my best friend and my dog, my other best friend. It really is a nice park. It's nice and green. There's lots of different areas. It's a great local park. Lots of shade, cooler than many other parks with just cement and 1 or 2 trees that they planted.

I have some special memories from this park that I'm not going to talk about but I love taking my dog here and so does my dog he loves it as well we like to go to the store get some snacks and then go rest at the park for a while in the shade it's very nice when it's so hot out

Trail conditions & character

What this trail is actually like underfoot and overhead, taken from its own listing and from reviews. Each one links to every other trail with the same character. Busy or quiet is reported as a plain fact, not a plus or a minus — a runner heading out alone at dawn often wants company on the path, and someone running intervals wants an empty one.

Plan your run at Union Park

The practical stuff

  • AccessDawn to dusk — the gates close, so do not plan a run that finishes after dark
  • SurfacePaved — asphalt or concrete. Fast and predictable, runnable year-round, and fine with a stroller
  • Distance16 mi as reported — check whether that is one way or a round trip before you commit. Long enough for a real long run.
  • ShadeRunners describe real tree cover here — it makes a summer afternoon workable
  • LightingRunners report lights on the path — useful for pre-dawn and after-work miles. Lighting and opening hours are separate things, so check both.
  • At the trailheadparking, restrooms, water — reported by runners
  • DogsWelcome, per reviewers. Leash rules vary by park — the trailhead sign is the authority.
  • Stroller / wheelchairReported as smooth and step-free enough for a running stroller or a chair.
