Confirmed from University Hills Park's own listing, the park or land manager's website, and runner reviews. Blank cells mean we could not verify that fact — we would rather say "not reported" than invent one. There is no Easy / Moderate / Hard rating on this page on purpose: a one-word difficulty score tells you nothing about whether a trail suits your run. Surface, distance, shade and hours do.

ScenicQuiet

Large park featuring walking trails around a central pond, plus a playground & picnic pavilion.

We LOVE this park. My wife uses the northwest trail that goes through this park to bike to work. We take our daughter down to play on the playground and in the creek. I use the route to jog. It's the perfect local park with trees, playground, trails, and fields for sports.

Good location for work out. With bands and to walk around the pond. Just coming back from a foot injury. 1st day back. Saw a lot of mature guys mid day getting their workout done. Husky guy 250+ running a big guy nice pace impressive. Two other thick guys 35+ running one was taking the hill with zest.

A pleasant well-kept nature reprieve from the surrounding suburbia. An asphalt path around the pond takes 6-7 minutes to walk and on a nice day is filled with runners and strolling families. Ducks and geese are frequent visitors, and the discerning eye will see frogs, minnows, spiders, and occasional snakes.

★★★★☆ — William , Sep 2018

It's a nice quiet place for walks and quiet time. It's connected to another very noisy park where there's always some sports activity going on. This one also has a children's area with swings n slides. Luckily Maryland has no dirth of parks and this is a nice find too!!

Trail conditions & character

What this trail is actually like underfoot and overhead, taken from its own listing and from reviews. Each one links to every other trail with the same character. Busy or quiet is reported as a plain fact, not a plus or a minus — a runner heading out alone at dawn often wants company on the path, and someone running intervals wants an empty one.

🤫 Quiet / uncrowded 5 mentions

The practical stuff

  • AccessDawn to dusk — the gates close, so do not plan a run that finishes after dark
  • DistanceNot reported. Trail systems often quote total path mileage rather than a single loop, so measure the route you actually want before you drive out.
  • ShadeNot reported. Assume some of it is exposed and carry water in summer.
