Confirmed from Viking County Park's own listing, the park or land manager's website, and runner reviews. Blank cells mean we could not verify that fact — we would rather say "not reported" than invent one. There is no Easy / Moderate / Hard rating on this page on purpose: a one-word difficulty score tells you nothing about whether a trail suits your run. Surface, distance, shade and hours do.
Large park with multiple dog beaches and off-leash areas, plus a disc-golf course.
What runners say about Viking County Park
“Gorgeous park, beaches are great.”
“My younger dog is still learning to love the water and they're easy walk in beaches with lots of friendly water loving pups!”
I LOVE this park! Well taken care of, pretty large, and two great beaches for the dogs. My younger dog is still learning to love the water and they're easy walk in beaches with lots of friendly water loving pups! They just installed two double entry gates which I'm really happy about.
Best Dog park in the area!!! Several fun swimming spots for the pups. Trails in the woods to walk with the pups or open trails in the sun to walk. Plus theres other trails to hike but pups need to be leashed. Fishing spots. Picnic or grilling spots. Friendly people and pups! You'll have a great time!
What a great park. Nice trails, large dog park, and lovely wildlife. Love this place ❤️
Took Zorro out to try out the beach. Two different dog beaches in the off leash area. He had a lot of fun playing in the water but not quite getting swimming yet. The paths were great and he loved exploring.
Trail conditions & character
“The dog exercise area is absolutely massive - I’m not sure if it’s possible to leave this place without a worn out dog.”
“Highly recommend for everyone; fishing, family, dog park pond & pier, tons of water views, wildlife and pelicans”
“Trails kind of go in every direction, but there is one nice loop straight from the parking lot toward the water!”

The practical stuff
- AccessPosted hours — posted hours below; park gates sometimes close earlier than the listing says
- DistanceNot reported. Trail systems often quote total path mileage rather than a single loop, so measure the route you actually want before you drive out.
- ShadeNot reported. Assume some of it is exposed and carry water in summer.
- At the trailheadparking, restrooms — reported by runners
- DogsWelcome, per reviewers. Leash rules vary by park — the trailhead sign is the authority.
