Confirmed from Walnut Mountain Park's own listing, the park or land manager's website, and runner reviews. Blank cells mean we could not verify that fact — we would rather say "not reported" than invent one. There is no Easy / Moderate / Hard rating on this page on purpose: a one-word difficulty score tells you nothing about whether a trail suits your run. Surface, distance, shade and hours do.
Town park featuring a playground mountain-bike paths with steep inclines, plus ball fields.
What runners say about Walnut Mountain Park
“This is an excellent town park, distinguished from other such places by its tall hill and many well-maintained carriage trails left over from its history as a hotel.”
“This is a beautiful park to go for kids & adults.”
“It was a little hard to navigate in the foliage but it's well marked.”
“Great hiking and biking trails for all levels.”
Great little spot that we just discovered. There are multiple trails that you can take and enjoy. We only did two miles in the snow but I wouldn’t go here without snow shoes again. There are spots where your foot will disappear.
Beautiful scenic view from the overlook. The trails are well marked. Maps are easy to read. The inclines are moderate and not difficult to walk. Walked off the trails, and saw two very cute bridges.
Really almost surprisingly nice park, plenty of trails at different difficulty levels, lots to explore and discover, such as the foundation ruins at the top of the mountain. If I had a mountain bike I'd come here even more for all the trails. Frisbee golf too! Definitely a gem of Liberty.
This is an excellent town park, distinguished from other such places by its tall hill and many well-maintained carriage trails left over from its history as a hotel. The park has ball fields, a playground and picnic spots, but also a disc golf course. It's popular with mountain bikers and I come here for XC skiing.
