Confirmed from Wells Harbor Community Park's own listing, the park or land manager's website, and runner reviews. Blank cells mean we could not verify that fact — we would rather say "not reported" than invent one. There is no Easy / Moderate / Hard rating on this page on purpose: a one-word difficulty score tells you nothing about whether a trail suits your run. Surface, distance, shade and hours do.

a beautiful place to refind your zen when life overwhelms you. so much is already written about harbor park, and i have nothing new to add. but i’m thankful for it, thankful for the work of those who established this small preserve for our enjoyment, for its beauty, for the sweet scent of beach roses that bloom here…

Very nice family friendly place to take your kids. Stopped here to let the kids get out some energy. Clean and a very beautiful place to visit. Lots of different places to walk around and explore. Will definitely be back to Wells, ME!

Had an awesome time at the event with a small group. Place easy to get to plenty of parking. For best results recommend to bring your own chair as the benches can get pretty uncomfortable. Definitely had a nice time with our group. The restrooms are a bit of a walk away from the area.

Beautiful area to kayak, hike, sunbathe, and get a meal at one of the restaurants on this peninsula. There is a dog and kid friendly beach on the marsh as well as small boardwalk, a playground, charcoal grills and open roofed areas and pick nick tables. It would be a great location for a child's birthday party.

Trail conditions & character

What this trail is actually like underfoot and overhead, taken from its own listing and from reviews. Each one links to every other trail with the same character. Busy or quiet is reported as a plain fact, not a plus or a minus — a runner heading out alone at dawn often wants company on the path, and someone running intervals wants an empty one.

The practical stuff

  • AccessOpen 24 hours — no gate to beat, so a 5am or a 10pm run both work
  • SurfaceBoardwalk — flat and scenic, and slick when wet, so watch your footing
  • DistanceNot reported. Trail systems often quote total path mileage rather than a single loop, so measure the route you actually want before you drive out.
  • ShadeNot reported. Assume some of it is exposed and carry water in summer.
  • At the trailheadparking, restrooms — reported by runners
  • DogsWelcome, per reviewers. Leash rules vary by park — the trailhead sign is the authority.
  • Stroller / wheelchairReported as smooth and step-free enough for a running stroller or a chair.
